The Root of Conflict: Desire and Sin

The Bible teaches that conflicts and wars among people arise from within, from our own desires and sin. In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Paul writes, "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." This passage highlights the internal struggle we face, where our desires for pleasure and self-centeredness lead to conflicts and wars. James 4:1-3 also underscores this point, stating, "What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?" This internal struggle is the root of conflict, and it is a battle we must engage in to bring about peace and unity.

The Impact of War on Relationships
