Biblical Answer

If you have to give up your car, it may seem like a big sacrifice. However, from a biblical perspective, giving up our own desires and attachments can be a sign of spiritual growth. Jesus said, "Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it" (Luke 9:24). This means that when we let go of our own ambitions and desires, we may find that God gives us something even better in return. As the Bible says, "Sell everything and, in return, get back far more than you gave up" (Matthew 19:21). This is what following Jesus is like - giving up our own understanding and desires in order to follow Him.

But why would we have to give up our car? Perhaps it's because we're holding onto something that's not as important as our relationship with God. Or maybe we're not willing to surrender our own understanding of ourselves and our lives. As the Bible says, "You must be broken from your own understanding of yourself" (2 Corinthians 4:7). When we reach this point, we can begin to see that God is not just a distant figure, but a loving Father who is guiding us every step of the way. We can trust that He knows what's best for us, even if it means giving up something that seems important to us.

So what would I do in this situation? I would give up my car, and trust that God will provide for me in a way that I never could have imagined. I would remember that "God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20). I would trust that He has a plan for me, and that He will give me the strength and courage to follow Him, even when it's hard. And I would know that I am not giving up something that is essential to my well-being, but rather, I am giving up something that is holding me back from experiencing the fullness of God's love and provision in my life. As the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). By giving up my car, I would be taking a step of faith, and trusting that God will give me everything I need to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
