A Loss of Purpose: Understanding the Underlying Causes

When we lose our business and sense of purpose, it can be a devastating experience. However, it's essential to understand that this loss may not be solely due to external factors such as financial decisions or business failures. Rather, it may be a symptom of a deeper issue – a lack of alignment with our God-given purpose. As the Bible teaches, we were created to create in a thoughtful and worshipful manner, and when we fail to do so, we may feel unfulfilled and lost. This can lead to a sense of superiority or obstinacy, which can ultimately result in negative consequences.

Realigning with God's Purpose

To regain our sense of purpose, we need to realign ourselves with God's original intention for our lives. This requires a shift in focus from our own desires and interests to a deeper understanding of our purpose in relation to God. As Jesus said, "As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you" (John 20:21). Our purpose is not to achieve success or happiness on our own terms but to depend on God and His power. This means updating our life plan and keeping our commitments, particularly our commitment to prayer and reading the Bible. By staying calm, faithful, and unconfused in the midst of life's turmoil, we can find our purpose and direction.

The Role of Faith and Dependence

Ultimately, our purpose is not something we can achieve through our own efforts or moral purpose. Rather, it requires a deepening of our faith and dependence on God. As the Bible teaches, "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). Our purpose is not to be self-centered or focused on personal happiness but to enjoy God and take pleasure in Him. By recognizing our limitations and weaknesses, we can humble ourselves and acknowledge our need for God's guidance and power. In doing so, we can find our purpose and direction, even in the midst of loss and failure. As the Psalmist wrote, "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy" (Psalm 118:23). Our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
