Keeping dignity when dependent on others is a challenging issue that requires a biblical perspective. According to the Bible, our dignity is not derived from our circumstances, but from our relationship with God (Psalm 139:14). As humans, we are created in God's image and have inherent worth and dignity (Genesis 1:27). However, when we become dependent on others for our sense of self-worth, we risk losing our dignity and becoming defined by our relationships rather than our identity in Christ.

To maintain dignity when dependent on others, we must prioritize our relationship with God and recognize that our worth and value come from Him alone. This means that we must not rely on others to give us a sense of self-worth, but instead, seek to cultivate a deep sense of identity and self-worth that is rooted in our faith. As the Bible says, "You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies" (1 Corinthians 6:20). This means that we must prioritize our relationship with God and seek to honor Him in all that we do.

In addition to prioritizing our relationship with God, we must also learn to accept responsibility for our own choices and actions. This means being specific and taking ownership of our mistakes, rather than blaming others. As the Bible says, "Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator" (Colossians 3:9-10). By taking responsibility for our choices and actions, we can maintain our dignity and avoid becoming defined by our relationships with others. Ultimately, our dignity is not something that can be taken away from us, but rather, it is something that we must choose to cultivate and maintain through our relationship with God.
