The Power of Showing Kindness in Everyday Life

When we are feeling hopeful, it's easy to show kindness to others. However, when we're not feeling particularly friendly, it can be a challenge. The Bible reminds us to "put on a friendly manner and behave as if you were a nicer person than you actually are" (Proverbs 4:23). This doesn't mean we're being insincere, but rather, we're choosing to act in a way that reflects our desire to be kind, even if we don't feel like it. As we do this, we'll often find that our emotions follow our actions, and we'll start to feel friendlier than we were before.

The Importance of Personal Experience

When sharing hope with others, it's essential to do so with a personal experience. We can't just talk about purpose or hope without having lived it ourselves. As the Bible says, "answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15). This means being vulnerable and sharing our own story of how we've found hope and purpose. By doing so, we'll be more relatable and authentic in our interactions with others.

Putting Kindness into Action

So, how can we put kindness into action in everyday life? We can start by thanking God for past victories and laying a foundation for more future blessings. We can also make a list of the things we're thankful for and share them with others. Furthermore, we can volunteer our time at a local shelter or nursing home, where we can serve others and bring joy to their lives. By doing so, we'll be showing kindness to others, even when we don't feel like it, and we'll be living out our faith in a way that reflects our values. As Jesus said, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40). By choosing to show kindness, we'll be demonstrating our love for God and for others.
