The greatest love we can show to others is a love that is rooted in the love of God. This love is not just a feeling, but a choice that we make to prioritize the needs and interests of others above our own. As Jesus said, "Love each other as I have loved you" (John 15:12). This kind of love is not self-centered, but servant-hearted, willing to count others better than ourselves and to serve and look out for their interests as well as our own (Gal. 5:13b14; Phil. 2:3). It is a love that is not based on what we get in return, but on a genuine desire to bless and uplift others.

This kind of love is the greatest because it is the purpose and goal of faith and hope. As 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Love is not just a means to an end, but an end in itself. It is the very essence of God's nature, and it is the very essence of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. When we love others in this way, we are not just showing them love, we are showing them the love of God. As Jesus prayed in John 17:21-23, "May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me."
