Biblical Answer

The question of why I got terminal cancer is a question that is beyond human understanding. The Bible does not guarantee that we will not suffer from cancer or other illnesses. In fact, the Bible teaches that suffering is a part of life, and that it can be used by God to bring about spiritual growth and maturity in our lives. As the apostle Paul wrote, "We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4). While we may not be able to understand why we have cancer, we can trust that God is working in our lives, even in the midst of suffering.

It's also worth noting that our understanding of cancer and the medical profession's ability to diagnose and treat it has improved significantly over the years. In my case, the initial diagnosis was incorrect, and the cancer was actually a relatively mild form. This is a reminder that our understanding of the world is limited, and that God is sovereign over all things, including our health and well-being. As the Bible teaches, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). We must be careful not to assume that we have all the answers, or that we can understand the mind of God.

In the midst of suffering, it's easy to ask why God would allow us to experience such pain and hardship. But the Bible teaches us that God is not the author of suffering, but rather the One who can bring good out of it. As Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). While we may not be able to understand why we have cancer, we can trust that God is working in our lives, and that He is able to bring us through even the darkest of times. As the apostle Paul wrote, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
