The Condition of Salvation

To be saved, we must understand the condition of salvation. The Bible clearly teaches that salvation is not just about praying a prayer or walking an aisle, but about continuing in the faith (Col. 1:23). This means that salvation is not a one-time event, but a lifelong process of growth and obedience to God. The apostle Paul warns us that depending on temporary blessings and experiences is not enough (Galatians 3:3). Instead, we must depend on Jesus to save us, and in doing so, we move from being an interested observer of the facts of salvation to being someone who enters into a new relationship with God.

The Positive Act of Sinning

The Bible also teaches that salvation is not just about God's act of saving us, but also about our positive act of sinning. Christ will not condemn us because He did not save us, but because we have sinned and have no sorrow for it (Matthew 25:31-46). This means that salvation is not just about God's mercy and forgiveness, but also about our willingness to repent and turn away from sin. We must acknowledge our sin and ask for forgiveness, and then continue to walk in the faith, depending on Jesus to save us.

The Assurance of Salvation

So, what must we do to be saved? The Bible clearly teaches that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). We must put our faith in Him, and continue in the faith, depending on Him to save us. We must also repent of our sin and ask for forgiveness, and then continue to walk in the faith, growing in our relationship with God. This is the condition of salvation, and this is the positive act of sinning that we must acknowledge. When we do this, we can be assured of our salvation, and we can live a life that reflects the teachings of the Bible. We can be holy and blameless, appearing before God one day, and enjoying eternal life with Him. This is the promise of salvation, and this is what we must do to be saved.
