Why did I have to go through this pain and suffering?
When we experience severe and inexplicable pain, it can be challenging to understand why we have to go through it. We might feel like God has abandoned us or that we are being punished for some unknown sin. However, the Bible teaches us that God is sovereign over all creation and that He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). This means that even in the midst of suffering, God is working to bring about a greater good.
The Bible also teaches us that suffering is a necessary part of the Christian life. Jesus Christ himself suffered immeasurably in his service to others, and He calls us to follow His example (Matthew 16:24). Suffering can be a catalyst for growth and deepening our faith. It can also be an opportunity for us to trust God and learn to rely on Him in ways we never thought possible. As the Psalmist wrote, "It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees" (Psalm 119:71).
In the midst of pain and suffering, it can be tempting to try to find answers and explanations. However, sometimes the answer is not to be found in understanding the cause of our suffering, but rather in trusting God with the mystery of it. As the Bible says, "God, I don't know what you are doing, but you do, and that is enough." (Psalm 115:3) This is not to say that we should not seek medical attention or other forms of help when we are suffering. Rather, it is to say that in the midst of our pain, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good, even if we don't understand why. As we trust God, we can learn to rely on Him and find strength in our weakness. Ultimately, the question of why we have to go through pain and suffering may not have a clear answer, but we can trust that God is working to bring about a greater good in our lives.
