Is forgiveness a sin in the Bible?

In the Bible, forgiveness is not considered a sin. In fact, forgiveness is a divine prerogative that only God can grant. Jesus, as the Son of God, had the authority to forgive sins, and He did so unhesitatingly (Matt. 9:2-8). However, there is one sin that is considered unforgivable, and that is the sin against the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:29). This sin is described as an eternal sin, and those who commit it will never be forgiven, either in this age or the age to come.

The Bible teaches that forgiveness is a gift from God, and it is not something that can be earned through human merit. Rather, forgiveness is a result of God's grace and mercy. When we repent of our sins and turn to God, He forgives us and restores our relationship with Him (Luke 23:34; Acts 7:60). However, forgiveness is not automatic, and it requires repentance and a change of heart. If we refuse to confess our sins and turn to God, He will not forgive us (1 John 1:9).
