Biblical Answer

A person who has lost their retirement may still have a purpose in life. The Bible teaches that our purpose is to know God and enjoy Him forever (Psalm 16:11). This is not limited to a specific age or stage of life. Rather, it is a lifelong pursuit that can be lived out in various ways, regardless of one's circumstances. As the Bible says, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). This means that even in retirement, one can still find purpose in serving God and living for His glory.

In fact, the Bible warns against making one's purpose in life to be wealth or material possessions. As the parable of the rich fool teaches, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man of great wealth threw a great banquet and invited many guests. 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame,' he said. '' (Luke 12:16-20). This parable shows that true purpose and fulfillment come from living for God and serving others, not from accumulating wealth or possessions.

Therefore, even if one's retirement is gone, they can still find purpose in life by living for God and serving others. As the Bible says, "My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, my refuge and my rock" (Psalm 31:15). This means that one's purpose is not determined by their circumstances, but by their relationship with God. By trusting in Him and living for His glory, one can find purpose and meaning in life, even in retirement.
