Understanding Faith

Faith is a deliberate commitment to the Person of Jesus Christ, even when we can't see the way ahead. It is not intellectual understanding, but rather a trust and commitment to God's promises and character. This commitment is not based on our own strength or abilities, but on God's sovereignty and power. Faith is a reasonable faith, and our reason should be a faithful reason, one that recognizes the inevitable and rationally necessary presence of trust and commitment.

The Nature of Faith

Faith is not a vague or irrational commitment, but rather a commitment to the specific person of Jesus Christ. It involves trusting and committing ourselves to God's promises and character, and recognizing that our salvation is solely based on Christ's work, not our own merits or efforts. Practicing Faith

Authentic faith involves overcoming doubt and trusting in God's sovereignty and power. It entails asking God to intervene, expecting, with unconditional trust, that he will act as he sees fit. Faith that overcomes unbelief is a gift from Jesus, and it is a faith that is sustained by God's power and grace. As we live by faith, we live by the Bible and apply it to our life every day, starting with the "milk of the word" and then going on to the deeper truths of God's character and promises. By doing so, we can develop a strong and confident faith that is rooted in God's sovereignty and power.
