The Purpose of Human Creation

God created humans for definite purposes. The human was intended to know, love, and obey God, and live in harmony with other humans (Genesis 1:26-27). This is evident from the Bible, where God's plan for humanity is declared from the very dawn of creation. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created to cultivate and develop the world and glorify God thereby (Genesis 12). Jesus Christ came to redeem not only humans but the entire creation (Romans 8:18-26).

The Nature of Human Beings

Humans are made in the image of God, which means we have the ability to reason, to make moral choices, and to understand the consequences of our actions (Genesis 1:26-27). This is a unique characteristic that sets us apart from other creatures. As bearers of the divine image, humans have a created nature that reflects God's goodness and graciousness. We are not just products of natural processes, but rather, we are creatures that have been brought into existence by God's purposeful design.

The Significance of Human Existence

God created humans because it was better to create beings capable of fellowship with and obedience to him, even in the face of temptations to do otherwise. This is evident from the fact that God could have created the world without human beings, but instead, he chose to create us for a specific purpose. Our existence is not an accident, but rather, it is a deliberate act of God's sovereignty. As humans, we are called to reflect God's character and live in harmony with him and with each other. Our existence is a gift from God, and we should strive to honor him with our lives.
