Can a person still be a good Christian if they struggle with resentment?

Resentment is a natural human emotion that can be a challenge to overcome, especially when we feel wronged or hurt by others. However, as a Christian, we are called to live a life that reflects the character of Jesus Christ, who showed us that forgiveness is a key aspect of our relationship with God (Matthew 6:14-15). While it is possible for a Christian to struggle with resentment, it does not necessarily mean they are not a good Christian. In fact, the Bible teaches that Christians will struggle with sin, including resentment, but it is how we respond to those struggles that matters (1 John 1:8-10).

The key to overcoming resentment as a Christian is to recognize that it is a sign of a deeper issue - a lack of forgiveness and trust in God. When we hold onto resentment, we are essentially saying that God is not enough, and that we need to take matters into our own hands. This is a form of rebellion against God, and it can cause us heartache and suffering. However, when we choose to forgive and trust in God, we are able to let go of resentment and live a life that is more in line with the character of Jesus Christ. This is not to say that it is easy, but it is a fundamental aspect of the Christian life.

Ultimately, being a good Christian is not about being perfect or never struggling with resentment, but about being willing to surrender to Jesus Christ and trust in His power to transform us. When we do this, we are able to experience the forgiveness and love of God, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. As the Bible says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). This is the promise of the Christian life, and it is available to all who choose to follow Jesus Christ.
