Your Question:

why did god let this happen to me?

Answer:

The question of why God lets bad things happen to us. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with this very issue. They'll ask me, "Why did God let me break my foot?" or "Why did God allow me to go through a difficult time?" And my response is always the same: God's ways are not our ways. He's not trying to make us jump through hoops or test our faith. He's trying to teach us something about ourselves and about Him.

You see, when we go through trials and tribulations, it's not because God's not listening or because He's not loving us. It's because He wants us to see our own sin and our own need for Him. He wants us to recognize that we can't do it on our own, that we need a Savior. And that's exactly what Jesus is - a Savior who came to save us from our sins. So, when we're going through a tough time, we need to remember that it's not about God's love or God's lack of love. It's about our own hearts and our own need for Him.

As I read through the scriptures, I'm reminded of the story of Job. He lost everything - his family, his possessions, his health. And yet, in the midst of all that suffering, Job still trusted in God. He said, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." (Job 13:15) That's the kind of faith we need to have when we're going through tough times. We need to trust that God is working everything out for our good, even when we don't understand what's happening. And we need to remember that God's purpose is not to hurt us, but to help us see our need for Him and to draw us closer to Himself.
