The Burden of Affordability

When we say, "I can't afford to live," what we often mean is that we can't afford to make lifestyle adjustments to prioritize our relationship with God and our financial well-being. We are living beyond our means, and our inflated sense of what's essential has created financial pressure. This artificial pressure can be overwhelming, but it's a result of our choices, not our circumstances. We need to throttle back our lifestyle and recognize that what we consider necessary may actually be superfluous and useless.

The Importance of Prioritizing God's Will

As Christians, we are called to prioritize God's will over our own desires and needs. This means being willing to live a life of simplicity and trust in God's provision. We are not to worry about our own welfare, but rather to seek God's guidance and direction. This is not a call to poverty or destitution, but rather to a life of contentment and trust in God's goodness. As the Bible says, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6). We can trust that God will provide for us, even when we feel like we can't afford to live.

Breaking Free from the Love of Money
