Is God still with me in the darkness?
The darkness we face in life can be overwhelming and seem to push God away. However, the Bible teaches us that God is always with us, even in the darkest of times. In Isaiah 49:2, God says, "He will bring forth justice to the nations, not crying aloud or raising his voice; he will not make his voice heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench, he will faithfully bring forth justice; he will not fail or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his teaching" (Isaiah 49:1-4). This verse tells us that God is present in the midst of our darkness, working to bring about justice and redemption.
When we are in the darkness, it can be tempting to think that God has abandoned us. However, this is not the case. In John 12:35-36, Jesus says, "The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. The light has come into the world, but people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light, lest his works be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God." This verse reminds us that God is the light that shines in the darkness, and that He is always present with us, even when we cannot see Him. We must trust in God's presence and sovereignty, even when we are in the dark.
In times of darkness, it is essential to remember that God is not absent, but present, even if we cannot see Him. The Bible teaches us that God's presence is not limited to our feelings or experiences. In Psalm 139:7-12, David writes, "Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the farthest parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, 'Surely the darkness shall cover me, even the light about me shall be night,' even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light to you." This verse reminds us that God's presence is always with us, even in the darkest of times. We must trust in God's sovereignty and presence, and not let our feelings or experiences dictate our understanding of God's relationship with us.
