Your Question:
How do I keep going when everything feels like an uphill battle?
Answer:
As I reflect on my own experiences as a pastor and a husband, I understand the struggle of feeling like everything is an uphill battle. When we're facing formidable challenges that seem impossible to overcome, it's easy to lose sight of our faith. But the truth is, our faith is not based on victory or success, but on the Word of God. We must do what God wants us to do, regardless of the outcome. When I'm facing a difficult situation, I remind myself that I'm not fighting the external battle first. I get alone with God, and settle the matter with Him before dealing with others. This helps me to focus on victory today, rather than living for victory in the future or dwelling on past victories. As the Bible says, "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus" (Hebrews 12:1-2). In times of struggle, I try to keep my faith strong by taking small steps towards God. I start with small actions, like taking a few minutes to pray or walk, and make it a point to enjoy God's presence. I remind myself that following Jesus is not about doing more, but doing less - letting go of the things that keep me from God. By focusing on God and His presence, I can overcome obstacles and find victory, even in the midst of challenges. As someone once said, "When I was looking for God, He found me."
