The Sovereignty of God

God's sovereignty is a central theme in understanding why He takes away our sense of purpose. As the Bible teaches, God's purpose is not limited by our understanding or our desires. His plan is not dependent on our finite knowledge or our limited perspective. In fact, the Bible says that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). This means that God's purpose is not bound by our limitations, but rather, it is a purpose that transcends our understanding.

The Purpose of Suffering

The Bible also teaches that God's purpose is not always easy to understand, especially when it comes to suffering. Sometimes, God allows us to experience suffering so that we can learn to depend on Him and His power. This is not to say that God causes suffering, but rather, He uses it as a means to achieve His purposes. In fact, the Bible says that God works all things together for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). This means that even in the midst of suffering, God is working out His purpose, and He is using it to conform us to the image of Christ.

The Call to Trust

Ultimately, the reason God takes away our sense of purpose is to call us to trust in Him. When we are faced with uncertainty and doubt, we are forced to look to God and His Word for guidance. This is where we discover that God's purpose is not our purpose, but rather, it is His. As the Bible says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9). This means that we must learn to trust in God's sovereignty and His purpose, even when we don't understand what He is doing. We must learn to surrender our own purposes and desires to God, and trust that He is working out His purpose in our lives. This is the call of the Christian life, and it is a call that requires us to trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, even when we don't understand what He is doing.
