Finding Joy in the Midst of Chaos

In the midst of chaos, it can be challenging to find joy. However, Scripture teaches us that joy is always possible, even in the midst of difficulty. The key to finding joy is to look for it, to welcome it, and to appreciate the beauty of God's creation and the church. When we are unable to see joy, we should return to the cross and appreciate the beauty of what Jesus did. This helps us to focus on God and not on our circumstances.

Joy is not just a feeling, but a choice. It is a choice to see the world from God's perspective, to appreciate the beauty of creation, and to find joy in the things that God has blessed us with. This includes things like eating, drinking, working, feasting, gratitude, celebration, worship, and serving. As we practice these things, they become joyful experiences. Joy is also possible when we look for it in others, such as the laughter of children, the perseverance of the depressed, and the pouring out of God's Spirit.

In order to find joy in the midst of chaos, we must be willing to look for it. We must be willing to welcome joy rather than feel like we are betraying our depression by looking for it. Joy draws attention outward with a non-possessive appreciation for something that is good. For example, we can find joy in the beauty of nature, the kindness of others, or the beauty of God's creation. By choosing to focus on these things, we can find joy even in the midst of chaos. As the Bible says, "The Lord will satisfy your desire for rich lands; he will grant you the secret of prosperity" (Psalm 37:4). With God, joy is always possible.
