Teaching Children to Live Out Their Faith

As a parent, it is our responsibility to teach and train our children to live out their faith in the midst of societal pressure. This begins by modelling the service of God and handing down the truths of the faith to our children. We want our children to develop a godly character and fear the Lord, not just profess a faith. To achieve this, we need to teach them the Word of God, which plants faith in them, and pray that their faith will grow. Children who have faith have distinctly different characteristics, such as courage, respect, and a willingness to stand up for what they believe.

Teaching Children to Stand Up for Their Faith

It is essential to teach our children how to stand up for their faith, even in the face of societal pressure. We can do this by teaching them how to exercise their willful determination to stick with what they believe. This means acknowledging that it is okay to disagree with others and to speak up when necessary. We should also teach our children how to flee from situations that may lead them astray. By teaching our children to stand up for their faith, we are giving them the tools they need to make wise decisions and to resist the influence of peers who may not share their values.

Passing on the Faith to the Next Generation

As parents, we have a unique opportunity to pass on the faith to the next generation. This requires us to be intentional in teaching our children the Word of God and modelling the service of God. We should also pray that their faith will grow and that they will develop a deep and abiding faith that will sustain them throughout their lives. By doing so, we can give our children the best possible chance of developing a real faith that will serve them well in the midst of societal pressure. As the Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). By following this principle, we can raise children who will become passionate Jesus followers and who will live out their faith in a way that honors God.
