Why can't I trust my body?
The Unreliability of the Body
Our bodies are unreliable, and we should not trust in them. This is evident when we consider the impermanence of physical beauty and the inevitability of aging. As the Bible says, "What you have is not yours to keep" (Proverbs 23:4-5). Our bodies are subject to decay and corruption, and we should not rely on them for our sense of identity or worth. When we trust in our physical appearance or abilities, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and disillusionment.
The Folly of Trusting in Human Relationships
We also tend to trust in human relationships, but this is equally unreliable. When we trust in people, we are subject to their fallibility and failure. As the Bible says, "A friend may stick closer than a brother, but even a friend will let you down" (Proverbs 18:24). We may try to trust in our partners, friends, or family members, but they will inevitably disappoint us. This is because they are human, and humans are prone to error and failure. When we trust in people, we are putting our trust in something that is inherently unreliable.
The Importance of Trusting in God
So, where should we put our trust? The Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we trust in God, we are putting our trust in something that is eternal, reliable, and faithful. God is the only one who can provide us with true security and peace. When we trust in Him, we are free from the fear of failure and disappointment, and we can live with confidence and assurance. As the Bible says, "The Lord will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken" (Psalm 55:22). So, let us learn to trust in God, and not in our bodies or human relationships. Let us put our trust in the One who is faithful and reliable, and who will never let us down.
