Facing Mortality at a Young Age: A Biblical Perspective

As a young person, facing mortality can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. It's natural to feel anxious and uncertain about the future, especially when considering the reality of death. However, as Christians, we have a unique perspective on mortality that can bring comfort and hope. The Bible teaches us that death is not the end, but rather a transition to eternal life with God (2 Corinthians 5:8). This reality can give us peace and confidence, even in the face of uncertainty.

When facing mortality, it's essential to look to God and build our hope on Him. As the psalmist says, "Why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies, declares the Lord God. Turn, turn back, from your evil ways and live" (Ezekiel 18:31). This verse reminds us that God desires for us to live, not die, and that He wants us to turn away from our sinful ways and follow Him. By looking to God and trusting in His goodness and sovereignty, we can find peace and comfort in the midst of uncertainty.

As we face our mortality, it's also essential to remember that death is not just a physical transition, but also a spiritual one. The Bible teaches us that we must die to our old selves and be reborn in Christ (Romans 6:4). This means letting go of our pride, excuses, and self-protection, and surrendering to God's will. By doing so, we can experience a deeper level of intimacy with God and find true life and purpose. As Jesus said, "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). May we, as young people, seek to live a life that is surrendered to God and finds its hope and purpose in Him.
