Why Did God Let My Family Member Betray Me?

The question of why God allowed a family member to betray us can be a painful and confusing experience. It may seem that God is not protecting us or that He is not caring for us. However, we must understand that God's sovereignty and providence are not limited by human actions or decisions. In the Bible, we see examples of God's people being betrayed by their own family members, such as Judas Iscariot's betrayal of Jesus (Matthew 26:14-16, 47-50). Jesus himself said that He knew Judas would betray Him, but He did not take action to prevent it (John 13:27). This was a fulfillment of the Scriptures and part of God's plan to save humanity.

We must also recognize that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He sees the big picture and knows what is best for us, even when it seems like He is not intervening in our circumstances. God's forgiveness and mercy are not limited by our actions or decisions, but by His own character and nature. As the Bible says, "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). This means that no matter what we have done, God will forgive us and see us through to the end. His forgiveness is not based on our worthiness, but on His own love and mercy.

In our pain and hurt, it's easy to want to run from God or to question His love and care for us. But an understanding of God's forgiving grace can help us to trust Him even in the midst of betrayal. We can learn to see God's sovereignty and providence at work, even when we don't understand what is happening. As we come to Him in prayer, we can ask for His guidance, comfort, and strength to navigate the difficult times. And we can be assured that He is always with us, working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). By His grace, we can trust Him even when we don't understand.
