Parenting is a challenging yet rewarding experience that can evoke a wide range of emotions, from joy and satisfaction to frustration and despair. Despite the struggles that come with parenting, it is essential to recognize the value of this role in our lives. Parenting is not just about raising children; it is about modeling Christian values, teaching the gospel, and exemplifying love for all things pure and holy. As parents, we have the responsibility to be an example of godly faith, even when we struggle.

Struggling Parents Need Not Feel Guilty

It is essential to acknowledge that no family is perfect, and parents can struggle with various challenges, including their own spiritual struggles. Perhaps they were not taught by their own parents or may rely on others for spiritual guidance. However, this does not mean that they are not good parents. As the Bible reminds us, "Parents are not sovereign, but it is your responsibility to be an example of godly faith, to teach them the gospel, and to exemplify love for all things pure and holy." (Emphasis added). This means that even when we struggle, we can still be good parents by seeking guidance from God, His Word, and the support of our community.

Raising Leaders, Not Perfect Children

Raising children is not about producing perfect children, but about raising leaders who will follow God's plan for their lives. As parents, we need to focus on teaching our children the gospel, modeling Christian values, and guiding them through the challenges of life. We must also be patient, understanding, and creative in our approach to parenting. Remember, "you are going to earn every grey hair on your head, but hang in there – it's worth it." (Emphasis added). By recognizing the value of parenting, acknowledging our struggles, and focusing on raising leaders, we can be good parents even when we're struggling. Ultimately, our goal is to raise children who will follow God's plan for their lives and bring glory to Him. 123. By seeking guidance from God, His Word, and the support of our community, we can overcome our struggles and raise our children to be leaders who will follow God's plan for their lives.
