Addressing Debt with a Biblical Perspective

As a Christian, it's essential to address debt with a biblical perspective. The Bible teaches us to live debt-free, not because it's easy, but because it's a reflection of our trust in God's provision. Proverbs 22:7 says, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." Breaking Free from Debt

It's also essential to focus on building wealth, not just paying off debts, by investing in assets that generate income and appreciating in value over time. As the Bible says in Matthew 25:14-30, "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man who was a master of a household who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard." We should strive to be good stewards of our finances, using them to build wealth and bless others, rather than being slaves to debt.

Seeking Help and Forgiveness

In some cases, debt may be a result of financial exploitation or abuse. If this is the case, it's essential to seek help and forgiveness from God and others. The Bible teaches us to forgive others, just as God has forgiven us (Matthew 6:14-15). We should also be willing to forgive ourselves and others for past mistakes, rather than dwelling on anger and resentment. As the Bible says in Proverbs 6:1-5, "My son, if you have become surety for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger, if you have struck hands in pledge for a foreigner, you are snared by the words of your lips, enticed by your own mouth, do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, since you have come into your neighbor's pledge, go, humble yourself, and plead with your neighbor." We should strive to live in harmony with others, forgiving and seeking forgiveness as we work towards financial freedom.
