The Problem of Lying to Protect Someone

Lying is a complex issue that can arise in various situations, including protecting someone from harm. In such cases, the inclination to lie may stem from a desire to shield the other person from negative consequences. However, the Bible cautions against lying, even if it's done with good intentions. Proverbs 19:5 warns that a false witness will not go unpunished, and one who speaks lies will not escape. This verse highlights the consequences of lying, which can be severe and unpleasant.

The Bible teaches that honesty is always the best policy, even in situations where lying may seem like an easy way out. When we lie to protect someone, we may think we're doing the right thing, but in reality, we're perpetuating a cycle of deception.
