Why can't I just be healthy for once?
The Folly of Prioritizing Health
Many people struggle with the idea of prioritizing health, making it a main goal in their lives. However, this can lead to a sense of entitlement and disappointment when they don't achieve their desired level of health. The Bible teaches us to prioritize our relationship with God and to live a life that honors Him (1 Corinthians 10:31). When we make health our primary focus, we can become "cranks" who are always looking for something to be wrong with them. This mindset can lead to a never-ending cycle of dissatisfaction and frustration.
The Christian Perspective on Health
As Christians, we are called to preserve our bodies in the best of health for the service and glory of God (1 Corinthians 6:20). However, we must not prioritize health above our relationship with God. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to take care of them, but not at the expense of our spiritual well-being. The Bible teaches us that we will be completely healthy and strong forever in eternity (Revelation 21:4). In this life, we will experience struggles and challenges, but we are to trust in God's sovereignty and provision for our lives.
The Importance of Perspective
Rather than focusing on achieving a certain level of health, we should focus on living a life that honors God and brings glory to Him. We must recognize that health is a blessing, but not the ultimate goal. By prioritizing our relationship with God and living a life of obedience to Him, we can find true joy and fulfillment, even in the midst of physical struggles. As the Bible says, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us" (Romans 8:18). By keeping our perspective on God and eternity, we can find peace and contentment in our lives, even when we are not physically healthy.
