Prioritizing Personal Goals with Responsibilities

As Christians, our primary goal should be to live a life that is pleasing to God. According to Scripture, our major purpose in life should be to honor and glorify God in all that we do. This means that our priorities must be God-centered, with God first, God second, and God third, until our life is continually face-to-face with God. Our prayer should be, "In all the world there is no one but You, dear God; let my life be a reflection of Your love and glory" (Psalm 139:23-24). To achieve this goal, we must prioritize our time, energy, and resources to focus on spiritual growth, Bible reading, and prayer.

In setting priorities, we must examine our goals and values to ensure they align with God's purpose. We must ask ourselves, "Are my goals and values helping or hindering me in achieving my goal of pleasing God?" If our goals and values are not aligned with God's purpose, we must redirect them. We must also consider the values we want to pass on to our children and others, and ensure that our goals and actions are consistent with those values. This requires a conscious decision and effort to keep our primary goal constantly in front of us, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:9, "We make it our aim to be well pleasing to Him."

To prioritize our personal goals with responsibilities, we must start by setting priorities that align with God's purpose. This requires a daily focus on spiritual growth, Bible reading, and prayer. We must also examine our goals and values to ensure they are helping or hindering us in achieving our goal of pleasing God. By doing so, we can redirect our goals and values to align with God's purpose and live a life that is pleasing to Him. This requires faith and trust in God's sovereignty and guidance, as stated in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." By prioritizing our goals and values in this way, we can live a life that is truly pleasing to God.
