Your Question:

What happens when I'm gone?

Answer:

As a pastor, I've had many conversations with people about what happens when we're gone. From a spiritual perspective, I believe that when a believer dies, their soul immediately goes into the presence of God. This is a temporary separation from the body, but the soul remains connected to God.

In the Bible, it's written that the souls of believers will be raised imperishable on the day of resurrection, when Christ returns (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). This means that our physical bodies will be transformed, and we'll be reunited with our souls. The concept of purgatory is not something I believe in, as it implies that we can still earn our way to heaven through temporary punishment. Instead, I believe that our salvation is secure through faith in Christ.

When I think about what happens when I'm gone, I'm comforted by the knowledge that my soul will be with God immediately. I'm not worried about what will happen to my body or my earthly concerns. My focus is on living a life that honors God and sharing the Good News with others. As the Bible says, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21).
