Your Question:
Why can't I just be healed?
Answer:
The question of why we can't just be healed is a complex one. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with this issue, and it's often rooted in a faulty theology of suffering. The idea that God loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives, so He must want to heal us, is a simplistic view that doesn't take into account the sovereignty of God. If God chose not to heal us, it's not because He doesn't love us or doesn't want to heal us, but because He has a greater purpose in mind. I think it's also important to recognize that the Bible doesn't always present healing as the default outcome of prayer. In fact, Jesus often healed people, but not always. And sometimes, even when He did heal them, it was not just a physical healing, but also a spiritual one. This is why I believe that when we pray for healing, we should pray not just for physical restoration, but also for God's glory to be revealed in the situation, whether He chooses to heal or not. As we pray for healing, we must also remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He may choose not to heal us in this life, but that doesn't mean He's not working in us or through us. In fact, Scripture says that we are already healed through the wounds of Christ (Isaiah 53:5-6). So, even if we don't receive physical healing in this life, we can still experience spiritual healing and restoration through our faith in Him.
