Your Question:
Why did God allow this to happen?
Answer:
As a pastor and a follower of God, I've grappled with this question many times. The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign and all-powerful, yet He chooses to permit humanity to make choices, even when those choices lead to sin and destruction. It's a mystery that's difficult to understand, but I believe it's rooted in God's desire to give us free will, to allow us to choose Him freely, without coercion. In the Bible, we see examples of God's people facing difficult circumstances, and yet, God uses those circumstances to bring about good. For instance, the Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptians, but God used that situation to multiply their numbers and ultimately lead them to freedom. Similarly, Joseph's brothers meant to harm him, but God used their actions to elevate Joseph to a position of power and authority. I believe that God's ways are not our ways, and His wisdom is far greater than ours. He doesn't delight in the destruction of the wicked, but He does permit it as part of His larger plan to bring about redemption and salvation. As the Bible says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
