When we consider the question of why God allows pain and suffering to exist in this world, we must first acknowledge that God desires that there should be no physical pain in his creation. However, in certain instances, he decides not to prevent pain, and this can be a difficult reality for us to grapple with. The Bible is full of cries of anguish and questioning of God's intentions, and it is natural for us to wonder why God allows pain and suffering to occur.

One reason why God allows pain and suffering is that it can be a means of bringing us closer to him. When we are in pain, we may feel far from God, but in reality, he is drawing near to us. Pain can be a megaphone that rouses a deaf world, as C.S. Lewis said. It can cause us to seek God and to turn to him for comfort and strength. Additionally, God uses pain and suffering to reveal our sin and to prompt us to repentance. When we are in pain, we may be more likely to acknowledge our need for God and to seek forgiveness for our sins.

Ultimately, God's reasons for allowing pain and suffering are not always clear to us, and we may not always understand why certain things happen. However, we can trust that God's intentions are always good and that he is working all things together for our ultimate good. As Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." We can also take comfort in the fact that Jesus, who is God, has experienced pain and suffering himself, and he is able to identify with us in our struggles. As the prophet Isaiah says, "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by whose wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). In the midst of pain and suffering, we can turn to Jesus, who is our comfort and our hope.
