What if I can't pay the bills?

As Christians, we must remember that our primary focus should be on building a relationship with God, rather than accumulating wealth or material possessions. However, in reality, we all face financial challenges, and sometimes we struggle to pay our bills. In this situation, it's essential to recognize that our inability to pay is not a reflection of our worth or identity as children of God.

The Bible does not condemn debt outright, but rather emphasizes the importance of being able to meet our obligations. In Matthew 5:23-24, Jesus teaches us to settle our disputes with others before bringing our offerings to God. This suggests that we should take responsibility for our financial obligations and work to resolve any debts or financial issues we may have. However, if we find ourselves unable to pay our bills, we should not be ashamed or feel guilty. Instead, we should seek guidance from God and consider seeking help from financial advisors or counselors.

In many cases, it's not possible to repay debts in full, and it's essential to recognize that some debts cannot be repaid. In such situations, canceling the debt may be the best course of action. This involves acknowledging that the debt is forgiven and releasing the person or organization from any further obligation. As Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15, "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." By canceling the debt and releasing the person from further obligation, we demonstrate our commitment to forgiveness and our trust in God's provision.
