Why can't I stop crying when I feel like my world is ending?

The tears that flow from our eyes can be a reflection of our inner turmoil, a manifestation of the pain and sadness that we feel. In the midst of overwhelming emotions, it can be challenging to stop crying, even when we want to. This is not just a physical response, but also an emotional one. Our minds are flooded with thoughts of despair, hopelessness, and fear, making it difficult to find the strength to stop crying.

As the Bible reminds us, suffering is a part of life, and it's not always easy to bear. In Revelation 21:4, we read, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor any more pain." However, this promise is not a guarantee that we won't experience pain and sadness in the first place. It's a promise of what's to come in eternity, when we're with God. In the meantime, we may struggle with feelings of despair and hopelessness. The psalmist understands suffering and knows that we have a choice: to mourn our fretful condition or to cry out to the Lord. He leads us in crying out, and this can be a powerful way to find relief from our pain.

It's essential to listen to our hearts and address the underlying issues that may be contributing to our sadness. Ignoring our pain and emotions can lead to further suffering. In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, we're reminded that our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them. When we focus on our faith and trust in God, we can find strength to carry on, even in the midst of overwhelming emotions. It's not about suppressing our emotions or pretending that everything is okay when it's not. Rather, it's about finding a way to cope with our pain and sadness in a way that honors God and brings us closer to Him. By crying out to the Lord and seeking His guidance, we can find peace and comfort in the midst of our struggles.
