Love in the Midst of Chaos: A Reflection of God's Unchanging Love

In the midst of chaos, love can be messy and difficult to navigate. As the Bible says, "Love is strong as death, jealousy is as severe as Sheol; its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord" (Song of Solomon 8:6). This unchangeable and gratuitous love is a reflection of God's love for us, which is not subject to fluctuations. Just as God's love for us is not founded on our attractiveness, but on His own character, our love for others should not be based on their external qualities, but on the depth of our relationship with them.

When life gets busy, it's easy to let frustrations and impatience get the best of us. However, as the Bible reminds us, "Many waters cannot quench love, nor will rivers overflow it" (Song of Solomon 8:7). This means that our love for others should not be easily extinguished, even in the midst of chaos. Rather, it should be a constant and abiding presence in our lives, just as God's love is always present with us. By reflecting on God's unchanging love, we can learn to cultivate a deeper and more enduring love for others, even in the most trying circumstances.

In order to live out this kind of love, we must be intentional about creating a "Rule of Life" that prioritizes our relationships and our service to others. As the Bible says, "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). When we act in service with godly motives, resentment and impatience die, and our love for others is able to flourish. By following God's example and prioritizing our relationships, we can learn to love in the midst of chaos, and our love will become a source of hope and joy to those around us.
