Biblical Answer

The question "Why me?" is often a cry of desperation, a lamentation of the circumstances that have befallen a person. However, this question betrays a deeper issue - a lack of understanding of the sovereignty of God. As a Christian, I must remind you that God is in control of all things, including the trials and tribulations that we face. He is not caught off guard by our sin or the evil that surrounds us. Rather, He is working all things together for our good, even in the midst of suffering (Romans 8:28).

The question "Why me?" also reveals a lack of trust in God's goodness. It implies that God is somehow arbitrary or capricious, doling out suffering to some people and not to others. However, this is not the God of the Bible. He is a God of justice and mercy, who is actively working to redeem His people from the effects of sin. He is not responsible for evil, but rather, He is actively working to overcome it. As the Psalmist wrote, "The Lord does nothing but what is altogether right and good" (Psalm 119:68). So, I ask you, why do you doubt God's goodness? Have you forgotten that He is a God of love, who desires to be with you and to bless you?

The question "Why me?" can also be a manifestation of pride and self-centeredness. It implies that we are somehow more deserving of blessings than others, and that God's favor is somehow tied to our performance. However, this is a false narrative. As Christians, we are not entitled to blessings simply because we are good or deserving. Rather, we are recipients of God's mercy and grace, simply because of His love for us. So, I encourage you to lay aside your pride and self-centeredness, and instead, focus on the sovereignty and goodness of God. Trust in His loving care, even in the midst of suffering, and you will find peace and comfort in His presence.
