Can I Really Trust God to Give Me a New Purpose?

Understanding God's Sovereignty

When we face uncertainty or changes in life, it's natural to wonder if God is still in control. The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign over all creation, including our lives (Psalm 103:19). He has a purpose for each of us, and it's not limited to our individual goals or plans. In fact, God's purpose often supersedes our own purposes, and He may lead us down paths we never imagined (Proverbs 16:9). This can be unsettling, but it's a sign that we're growing in our faith and trust in God's goodness.

God's Purpose is Not Limited to Our Understanding

When we try to figure out God's purpose for our lives, we often get stuck in our own understanding and expectations. We may think we know what God wants us to do, but the truth is, His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). If we're honest with ourselves, we'll realize that we've tried many purposes in life, but God's purpose is not necessarily tied to our success or failure. Instead, His purpose is to draw us closer to Himself and to reveal His character to us (Romans 11:36). By surrendering our understanding and trusting God's goodness, we'll find peace and contentment, even in the midst of uncertainty.

Focusing on Jesus

As we navigate life's changes, it's essential to focus on Jesus and His purpose for us. He is the ultimate goal of our faith, and His love for us is the driving force behind all of God's purposes (John 3:16). By fixing our eyes on Jesus, we'll begin to see that His purpose is not just about our individual lives but about His kingdom and His glory (Matthew 6:33). As we run the race of life, let's remember to look at Jesus, not just at our own goals or plans. By doing so, we'll find the peace and confidence that comes from trusting God's sovereignty and goodness, even when we don't understand the specifics of His purpose for our lives. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
