Prioritizing Values in Uncertainty

When we're feeling anxious, it can be challenging to prioritize our values. Our natural inclination is to try to forecast accurately what will happen next, and uncertainty can seem like a bad thing. However, this is not the nature of God's sovereignty. According to 1 John 3:2, "we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is." This verse reminds us that God's plan is bigger than our own, and that He is working everything out for our good.

In times of uncertainty, it's essential to bring God into our planning as the greatest factor. As the Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." This means that we should prioritize our relationship with God and seek His guidance and peace in the midst of uncertainty.

Faith is a crucial aspect of prioritizing our values in uncertainty. As C. H. Mackintosh wrote, "faith raises the soul above the difficulty, straight to God Himself, and enables one to stand still." This means that we should focus on trusting in God's sovereignty and goodness, rather than trying to control every aspect of our lives. By doing so, we can gain confidence and peace, even in the midst of uncertainty. As Jesus taught, "Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" (Matthew 6:25). By prioritizing our relationship with God and trusting in His sovereignty, we can live with confidence and peace, even in uncertain times.
