When We Put Our Faith in God's Sovereignty

When we put our faith in God's sovereignty, we begin to see that our feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck are not a barrier to God's plan. In fact, these moments are opportunities for faith to be revealed. As C.S. Lewis notes, "Faith is not about feeling or seeing, but about trusting and obeying." When God calls us to act, even when we feel paralyzed, He pours out His Spirit on us, enabling and equipping us to be more than we are.

Faith in Difficult Circumstances

When we're facing overwhelming odds or feeling discouraged, faith can play a crucial role in our lives. It's about letting go of our own efforts and relying completely on God. As the Bible says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). Our attitude must be one of complete reliance on God, trusting that He is sovereign and in control. When we do this, we can find peace and comfort, even in the midst of difficulty.

Assessing Our Faith

When we're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, it's essential to take an inventory of our faith. Ask yourself questions like: "Am I trusting God's sovereignty in my circumstances?" "Am I relying on my own efforts or on God's strength?" "Am I trusting that God's plan is good, even when I don't understand it?" When we come to the correct answers, our faith will begin to triumph over our circumstances, and we will be able to glorify God in difficult situations. Remember, faith doesn't change our circumstances, but it can give us the strength and peace to endure them. As the Bible says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). By putting our faith in God's sovereignty, we can experience the peace and comfort that comes from trusting in His plan.
