**Facing the Possibility of Losing Everything**
The possibility of losing everything can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. It can be a crisis of the will, where we are forced to confront our own limitations and the fragility of our circumstances. However, as followers of Jesus, we are called to a different mindset. We are called to surrender our lives, our possessions, and our plans to God's sovereignty. This is not a call to be reckless or irresponsible, but rather to be intentional and deliberate in our surrender. As Jesus said, "Whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it" (Mark 8:35). This means that we must be willing to let go of our own will, our self-seeking, and our pride in order to find true peace, joy, and satisfaction in Christ.
When we face the possibility of losing everything, we must remember that we have authority in the name of Jesus to stop evil and permit good. We can submit to God in prayer and ask for His guidance and wisdom in the midst of uncertainty. As the Bible says, "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 18:18). This means that we have the power to make decisions that align with God's will, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. However, this also means that we must be willing to let go of our own plans and desires in order to follow God's plan. As the psalmist says, "You will have no true wisdom till you do" (Psalm 49:3). We must be willing to face the facts of our situation and see life as it is, rather than trying to impose our own will on God's plan.
In the end, losing everything can be a blessing in disguise. As the Bible says, "They will perish, but you remain; they will all grow old like a garment... they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never end" (Hebrews 1:10-12, quoting Psalm 102:25-27). When we surrender our lives and our possessions to God, we gain something far more valuable than we ever could have imagined. We gain a deeper relationship with God, a sense of peace and joy that surpasses understanding, and a life that is truly fulfilling and meaningful. As the apostle Paul says, "I lose my life to save it, pour myself out for others, and enjoy the liberating insouciance of self-forgetfulness" (Philippians 2:17). This is what it means to follow Jesus, and it is a promise that is worth holding onto, no matter what circumstances we face.
