The Reality of Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growth is a lifelong process. It's a journey, not a destination. As we mature in our faith, we'll face various challenges and opportunities for growth. The Bible teaches us that we are works in progress, and it's okay to still be developing in our spiritual lives. In fact, 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 says, "Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly; for you are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Have you not injuries to each other and do you not injure and cheat and manipulate one another?"

This passage highlights that spiritual growth is a process, and we may not yet have reached the fullness of our potential. However, this doesn't mean we should be content with our current state. Rather, we should strive to become more like Christ, and this requires effort and dedication. As the Bible says in Philippians 3:12-14, "Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

In conclusion, spiritual growth is a lifelong process that requires effort and dedication. While we may not yet have reached the fullness of our potential, we should strive to become more like Christ and press on toward the goal. This means being willing to learn, grow, and change, even when it's uncomfortable or challenging. As we do, we'll become more like Christ, and our lives will be transformed as a result. So, don't be discouraged if you feel like you're still becoming – it's a normal part of the spiritual journey. Keep pressing on, and trust that God will guide and empower you every step of the way.
