When a partner dies, the loss can be overwhelming and life-changing. The Bible acknowledges the pain and difficulty that comes with losing a loved one. In Romans 7:2-3, the apostle Paul uses the illustration of marriage to explain the relationship between believers and Christ. Just as a woman is bound to her husband by law as long as he lives, but is freed from the law of her husband if he dies, believers are bound to Christ as long as they live, but are freed from the law of sin and death if they die with Christ. This means that when a believer dies, they are released from the law of sin and death, and are free to be reunited with Christ in their resurrection bodies.

The Bible teaches that death is not the end, but rather a transition to a new life. In 1 Corinthians 15:50-54, Paul writes that when we die, we will be raised from the dead and given a new body that is like Christ's glorious body. This new body will be free from sin and death, and will be able to live in the presence of God forever.
