Your Question:

why did god take away my only friend?

Answer:

I can relate to the pain of feeling like God has taken away a loved one. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with this very issue. But as I reflect on my own experiences and the scriptures, I'm reminded that God's ways are not our ways. He doesn't always do things the way we think they should be done. Sometimes, it seems like He's not paying attention or that He's not interested in our well-being.

But the truth is, God is a friend who loves us unconditionally. He doesn't need us, but He chooses to be involved in our lives because He wants the best for us. Just like the parable of the friend who comes to borrow bread in the middle of the night (Luke 11:5-8), God may seem distant or unresponsive at times, but He's always working for our good. He's not trying to hurt us or take away our loved ones, but rather to shape us into the people He created us to be.

In my own life, I've seen God work in ways that seem mysterious and unfair at first, but ultimately lead to good. My wife Susan and I have prayed for our children, Joshua and Rebecca, and God has answered those prayers in ways we never could have imagined. But even when it seems like God is taking away something precious, I've learned to trust that He's working everything out for our good. It's not always easy, but it's a lesson I've learned through my own experiences and through studying the scriptures.
