Can I still trust God when He seems so silent?

The idea that God will always respond to our prayers with a blessing is a misconception. In fact, Jesus himself remained silent and gave no answer when questioned by the high priest (Mark 14:61). The silence of God can be a time of discipline, not a period of displeasure. When we cannot hear God, it is an opportunity for Him to trust us with absolute silence, not a silence of despair, but one of pleasure, because He sees that we can withstand the unknown.

The Bible teaches us that faith is not some weak and pitiful emotion, but a strong and vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. When we cannot see or hear God, we can still trust Him because of who He is. The Bible says, "I will trust in Him though He slay me" (Job 13:15). Our faith is not based on our feelings or circumstances, but on the character of God. We can trust Him even when we cannot hear Him because He is always present and always speaking through His Word.

The silence of God can be a challenge to our faith, but it can also be an opportunity for growth and trust. When we are afraid, we can trust in God, as the psalmist says, "When I am afraid, I will trust in you" (Ps. 56:3). By constantly talking to Christ and practicing the presence of God, we can build our faith and learn to trust Him even when He seems silent. As Brother Lawrence wrote, "We build our faith by the practice of the presence of God" (1 Corinthians 2:11-14). When we make God our constant companion, it becomes easy to trust Him, even in the midst of silence.
