Can We Truly Trust Others?

We can trust others to a certain extent, but our ultimate trust should be in God. The Bible says, "According to your faith let it be to you" (Matthew 9:29). This means that our level of trust in others should be based on our faith in God. When we trust in others, we are putting our trust in something created, rather than in Christ. This can lead to disappointment and shame when others fail us. On the other hand, trusting in God gives us a certain amount of control over our lives, and allows us to experience the peace and joy that comes from knowing that God is in control.

However, the Bible also teaches that we cannot trust each other completely. Sin is universal, and we need protection against one another. This is a terrible indication of what human nature is really like. As the Bible says, "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3). This means that we can only truly trust others if we are both walking with God. When we are in a right relationship with God, we can trust others to a certain extent, but our ultimate trust should always be in Him.

Trusting in God is not the same as trusting our feelings or emotions. It is a choice that we make, and it requires us to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, even when we don't understand what is happening. As the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). When we trust in God, we can experience a deeper knowledge of Him, and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 16:9). This means that trusting in God is not just a feeling, but a choice that we make every day.
