When chaos and uncertainty disrupt our plans, trusting in God's sovereignty means acknowledging that our plans are not the ultimate authority. Rather, to trust in the secret will of God overcomes pride and expresses humble dependence on God's sovereign control over the events of our lives. This trust or dependence on God, when it has an element of assurance or confidence, is genuine biblical faith. We can move forward confidently, trusting in God who has promised to guide and protect us, even when our plans are disrupted by uncertainty.

Trusting in God's sovereignty also means recognizing that God foresees the future and is actively involved in guiding our lives. This understanding can give us hope and encouragement that we trust in God, not in ourselves and our own judgments about his hidden purposes. By trusting in God, we can have a deeper knowledge of Him and experience His guidance in our lives. As the Bible says, "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord" (Proverbs 16:33). This means that even when we make plans, we must recognize that the ultimate authority is God, and that He is sovereignly directing our steps.

When we trust in God's sovereignty, we can overcome the tendency to ask why God does not remove evil from the world. Instead, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. This trust is not a denial of the reality of evil, but rather a recognition that God is greater than evil and that He is sovereignly directing all things. As the Bible says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). By trusting in God's sovereignty, we can experience a deeper sense of peace and confidence, even in the midst of uncertainty and chaos.
