A Time of Separation: A Call to Prioritize Family

The question of how your family will survive without you is a daunting one. It is natural to feel anxious and uncertain about the future, especially when we consider the importance of our family in our lives. However, as Christians, we must remember that our ultimate hope and security are not in our family or our own abilities, but in God. As the Bible reminds us, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). This truth is especially relevant when we are facing uncertainty and separation from our loved ones.

The Importance of Family

The importance of family cannot be overstated. In fact, the Bible teaches that the family unit is a vital part of God's plan for humanity. As the apostle Paul writes, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right" (Ephesians 5:25, 6:1). When we prioritize our family, we are not only fulfilling our responsibilities as parents and spouses, but we are also modeling a biblical value that is essential for the well-being of society as a whole. As the prophet Malachi reminds us, "The family is the domestic church" (Malachi 4:6). By prioritizing our family, we are, in effect, building up the body of Christ.

God's Sovereignty and Our Trust

While it is natural to feel anxious about the future, we must remember that God is sovereign over all things, including our family. As the Bible reminds us, "All things work together for the good of those who love God, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This means that even in the midst of uncertainty and separation, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good and the good of our family. By prioritizing our family and trusting in God's sovereignty, we can face the future with confidence and peace, knowing that our ultimate hope and security are in Him. As the psalmist writes, "You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). May we seek to prioritize our family and trust in God's sovereignty, even in the midst of uncertainty and separation.
