A Biblical Perspective on Treating LGBTQ People

Christians are called to love and befriend LGBTQ people, just as they are called to love all people. However, this does not mean condoning or accepting their behavior as morally right. The Bible is clear that same-sex sexual relationships are not okay for Christians, and we should not give false hope to professing Christians who proudly identify as LGBTQ+. We should not integrate their faith and sexual orientation, but rather encourage them to reconcile their faith with their sexual orientation.

Loving LGBTQ People without Agreeing with their Decisions

When interacting with LGBTQ people, our job is not to avoid them or make fun of them, but to tell them about Jesus and show them His love. Loving people does not mean agreeing with all their decisions. We can show compassion and love without condoning or accepting their behavior. In fact, the Bible calls us to be kind and compassionate towards all people, even those who are struggling with sin.

A Biblical Response to LGBTQ Issues

We must consider what the Scripture states concerning homosexuality. The Bible consistently repudiates homosexual behavior, but it also calls us to love and befriend those who struggle with same-sex attraction. We should not be judgmental or hateful, but rather show compassion and love. We should encourage LGBTQ people to reconcile their faith with their sexual orientation and to follow biblical standards by denying their attractions. By doing so, we can show them the love of Christ and lead them to a deeper understanding of God's design for humanity.
