Keeping Your Head Above Water in Times of Crisis

As a Christian, you may find yourself facing various challenges in life, from personal struggles to global crises. The Bible offers guidance on how to navigate these situations. In the Didache, a second-century Christian text, we find a practical tip on how to deal with a crisis situation, such as a lack of access to water. The text advises using available water, whether cold or warm, and if none is available, to pour water on the head in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Didache 7:10). This simple yet profound advice reminds us to seek solutions and resources available to us, even in the midst of scarcity.

However, the Bible also teaches us that true sustenance and guidance come from a higher source. Jesus Christ is the Fountainhead from which we can draw strength and wisdom. As the apostle Paul writes, "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God" (Colossians 3:1-4). This means that in times of crisis, we should look to Jesus, not just for immediate solutions but for a deeper, spiritual perspective. We should not try to reach the bottom of our own well, relying solely on our own strength and resources. Instead, we should seek to drink deeply from the Fountainhead of Jesus Christ, who is our source of life and guidance.

In times of crisis, it's easy to become overwhelmed and feel like we're struggling to keep our heads above water. But the Bible reminds us that with Jesus, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges. As the psalmist writes, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). When we feel like we're drowning, we can cry out to Jesus, who is always near to us. He can give us the strength and wisdom we need to navigate even the most difficult situations. So, in the face of crisis, let us not give up. Let us seek to keep our heads above water by looking to Jesus, our Fountainhead of life and guidance. Head to the cross, and drink deeply from the waters of life. You will find that with Jesus, you can overcome any obstacle and stay afloat in the midst of turmoil.
